NOVEMBER GARDEN DIARY
WORK
Only 7 hours work due to very inclement weather.
Major tree surgery by a professional involved crowning the birch, removing a large branch of big oak in left hand corner and trimming sycamore over sheds bordering plot. I'm looking forward to so much more light next year. I was impressed how the leaf blower rounded up all leaves that would have involved so much effort on my part. A wise investment for next year.
FLOWERS
The Cosmos decided to start flowering and I wish I had staked them up, still I could have turfed them out!
Once again at this time of year the golden yellow mantle of the Silver birch looks magnificent falling down to the purple leaves of the Cotinus in the heather bed.
The only storm damage seems to have been the Prunus pisarda needed re staking.
An impulse buy at the garden centre was a purple heather - gracilis - when I looked it up it said it was tender - time will tell!
The standard Cotoneaster did its usual firework trick for a couple of weeks - I love it.
WILDLIFE
When the seed feeder was empty the Great tits started on the sunflower seeds in the veggie plot.
GARDEN VISITS
Janet's GardenWe wandered round for half an hour, where her alpines in the greenhouse are a joy to behold. Then the cold and wet forced us inside for refreshment and cordial garden chat.
